Christmas 2010

This Christmas was PERFECT!!! I know everyone probably says that because Christmas is literally the best day ever and the one day everyone waits for, but this year it was especially great.

Reasons:
1.      I finally got to spend it with my darling husband. The past 2 Christmas's I looked forward to a silly little phone call from Jeremy. Not this year... instead I got to spend it with him just like I always hoped. Jeremy and I were so giddy and so excited for Christmas; we didn’t end up falling asleep until 2:00 AM. I felt like a 5 year old trying to fall asleep so I could see what Santa brought that morning. Jeremy and I gave our gifts to each other Christmas Eve because Christmas was so busy. It is fun starting our own traditions for our small family.
2.      We have the best families! The whole Christmas morning while we opened gifts and watched others opened gifts I couldn’t help but think how grateful I am to my parents and my new parents. They did everything they could to make our Christmas perfect… and it was.
3.      Last, both of our families got to volunteer at the Bishop Store house a few days before Christmas by inspecting bars of soap. Some bars of soap were not packaged correctly, others were wet, and some even moldy. After inspecting 500,000 it seemed to get monotonous, until I thought where the soap was going. As both of our families had the best Christmas we could ever ask for, many people get soap for Christmas. I’m grateful not only for my Christmas but for the blessings in my life.

Activity Days

I never really knew what a branch was until Jeremy and I got married and was put in one. I love it! Everyone is so humble, it doesn’t matter what you do or wear, you are all there for the same reason. The first time Jeremy and I went to church, I counted 10 women in Relief Society (including the presidency and the teacher) haha. It makes you realize how much one person can do, when they are dedicated to their calling. I never appreciated it until now… I see so many people in our Branch fulfilling 3 or more callings because we just don’t have enough people to divide them out. I am 8 year old primary teacher and activity day leader. It is so fun! The branch has never had activity days until today. We had our first one and I’m so happy the girls actually came and loved making gratitude journals. The girls are darling; and I can’t wait for next time!

We WON!!

So I have never won anything in my whole life. I always try to win contests or think I'll be lucky enough to win a drawing...well its never happened. Jeremy, however, is the luckiest person I have ever met. One day he was walking out of the gym and found a 32g Ipod, which would never happen to me. I'm glad I married a lucky man because this weekend we won. Jeremy and I went to Happy Valley to see all the friends I miss and of course to see Jordan Swarbrick play at UVU (they won by the way and Jord played awesome). Well in the second half of the game the cheerleaders threw shirts... and you can guess I caught one (well Amber caught it and gave it to me because she has a million). Inside was the winning diamond from Sierra West Jewelers. At first I thought it was a fake, but Jeremy and I were in Salt Lake Christmas shopping today and took it into Sierra West to see if it was real and sure enough... we won a $1,000 diamond!!! I bet Amber is really regretting giving me the shirt now.

The Bus

Jeremy and I live in Layton and I drive to Ogden everyday for school, I waste a lot of money on gas going up there everyday. Jeremy and I came up with a solution to help save money on gas... the bus! I got a free bus pass when I got my school ID, so I agreed to do it... how hard could riding a bus be? The next day, I got on bus 455 (to WSU)  and got to school just fine. I sat through my class and then waited for the next bus to take me home. I wasn't aware however, that you have to sit on a certain side of the street to go in a certain direction (North or South). I thought the bus has one route and goes in a circle....FALSE! I got on the bus that took me even more north and ended up in down town Ogden stranded, in the dark and freezing cold, with no coat or no way home.  Jer was in SLC for a bank meeting so I called my mom crying because I was scared I was going to get shot. Luckily she came to the rescue and I was home safe but if you can't guess... I'm probably not ever riding the bus again.

Finish the sentence; Bath rugs are used for...

The definition of a bath rug is (I googled), a mat used in front of a bathtub or shower, as to absorb water or prevent slipping. Growing up all my life this is what I believed it was used for. When I shower, I get out of the shower and dry off on the cute little rug. My dearest husband however, doesn't believe in this great invention. He believes that bath rugs should NOT get wet. Who taught him this I don't know? Now that I am married I dry off in the shower so our sacred shower rug doesn't get dirty or heaven forbid wet!

Jer I'll gladly do it for you, I just wanted you to know the real reason for it.

Nasty Discovery In Drain

Last night Jer and I went to Target to get Drano because something was clogging our drain… much to our surprise we found that the people who were living in our apartment before us left hair for us to clean up or...it is my hair but it couldn’t be mine! Thanks Jeremy for cleaning it out, because I almost threw up haha. Who would have thought Jer would have been the one to do that?

Proud Sister!

I just wanted to say congratulations to my big brother! Mike is going to Midwestern University for medical school and this past weekend he got his white coat. I’m so proud of you Mike this is such a huge accomplishment. You are a great example to me. I love you and I miss you! Keep up the good work Dr. Burkholz!

Utah Bride and Groom

This past week we were in an article in the Utah Bride and Grooms blog. Culinary Crafts catered our wedding and Rachel wrote a cute little something on our wedding because of the colors that were picked. Here is the link to it if you want to check it out. http://www.utahbrideandgroom.com/blog/?p=641

Date Night

Last weekend we went on our date night with Amber and Jordan Swarbrick and Brooke and Jason Wilde. We met up in South Jordan because we are all so far away from each other, meeting in the middle was just easiest. It was so fun to be with everyone and to catch up after our busy lives. Love you guys!

The Utah Game

We got to go to the Utah vs. UNLV game the other week. Chaz got us tickets and it was so fun for Jeremy to see him play again after 2 years. Riley loved meeting all the players after the game was over.

Honeymoon

Jeremy and I went to Puerto Vallarta on our honeymoon. We stayed at a resort for a full week. It was so nice to get away and relax after the craziness of the wedding. One of our traditions is to eat at every Hardrock Café we can. We have gone to 3 out of 149 so we have a long way to go haha. Puerto Vallarta was a beautiful place and was very warm. We had so much fun just hanging out together! The video is of Jeremy trying to boogie board... he failed miserably haha.

Wedding Day!

August 12, 2010 we were married in the Salt Lake Temple at 1:40. It was the perfect day until we realized my mom took my keys so we were left in Salt Lake with nothing. When Stevie came to save the day he ended up crashing the car on the way home. In the meantime, Mike was setting things up for the reception and backed into a pole. Haha We made it to our reception an hour late but it all turned out anyway. We had our reception at the Frampton's home in Farmington and it was perfect. Thanks to all the people that helped and put so much work into it we had our perfect day that we will never forget!

Cancun Mexico

Jeremy and I had the opportunity to go to Mexico City and Cancun with my family. We went to Mexico City to see where Mike served his mission and then vacationed in Cancun. It was so fun to see where Mike had served and all the people that he came to love. We went scuba diving in Cozumel with the whole family. It was the most amazing thing to experience! We went on 4 dives; our favorite was a ship wreck. The water was the perfect turquoise blue; it was a trip of a life time.
