Island Park

Summer time is so busy and I think for everyone that blogs starts to slack in the summer because why be on a computer when you could be outside at the pool (at least that is what I'm thinking right now). I do want to remember the fun things that have been going on so I'm just going to force myself to do it!

It is a tradition of my family's to go to Island Park every summer. I think we have been doing it for 13 years or so, at least ever since I can remember. As a family we look forward going up there, so a few years ago my parents bought property hoping to someday build a cabin for a fun family get away, but until then... we camp and stay in our time share! haha I actually enjoy camping so I didn't mind it as much as my mom did. The property is surrounded by trees and secluded from everyone, it truly is beautiful. We love fishing, riding ATV's, playing tennis, golfing, going to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Play Mill Theater, and playing cards!!

As you can see Mike is always making things interesting! Haha

Heber Valley Camp

This past weekend we had a family reunion at the Heber Valley Camp, obviously in Heber. The church owns the camp and they hold stake girls camps there in the summer. I was recently got put in the Young Women's in our Branch and we are going there in August so I'm really excited. I didn't really know what to expect but it was so fun!! They have so many different challenges you can do like zip lips, swings, climbing really high, crossing bridges, etc. I highly recommend going!

Grandma Myrna even did the 50 foot swing!

Needed get away

Things have been pretty stressful lately going straight from Spring semester right into Summer semester and working more hours for the summer. Jer and I both needed a weekend get away BAD! My dad bought a condo in St. George about a year ago and Jer and I have only been 1 time before this. We figured it was a perfect opportunity to go down and relax. We got to hang out with my parents which is always great but also very entertaining with my dad around. We stayed up until 1:00 AM one night and I really wish I got my dads dancing on camera but I'm really bad at taking pictures so you will just have to picture it instead... which shouldn't  be that hard if you know my dad. We did a lot of sleeping in, making breakfast, hiking, golfing, shopping, and laying by the pool. Anyway, thanks mom and dad for the fun weekend, we love you guys!

This is Jer on the I touch playing Tigger PGA Tour, while he has golf up on
the computer next to him, while he is watching the Volvo tournament... I think he likes golf?

My pictures are lame I know, I need to remember to take more.

Who reads cards anyway?

So my cute Dad got my mom a card for Mother's Day because he was trying to be thoughtful and romantic, here it is....

If you can't read it, it says:

With to-do lists as long as our
 grocery receipts its not easy
to find the time to hang out the way
we used to.

But I hope you know how much
I appreciate you as a friend,
respect you as a mom,
and love you as a SISTER.

Happy Mother's Day

Clearly my Dad didn't even read the card and just picked the first one that he saw, which was for a sister.  Good effort Dad... It's the thought that counts! And it was fun to laugh at all day, typical Howie!

Perfect Easter Message

I found this short video clip while preparing for my sharing time I have GET to teach tomorrow. It really sets the mood for tomorrow being the most sacred holiday we have. I love it!

Happy Birthday!!

Wednesday, April 20th was Jeremy's 22nd birthday! We didn't do anything very exciting because we both had to work, but it ended up being a great day anyway. We got to go to dinner a few different times this week with both of our families and got to spend time together not worrying about school or work. It's crazy to think that we have been dating since he was 17... Anyway I just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY JER, I love you!

This was my first time baking a real cake and it turned out a little tilted but it was yummy in-spite of the way it looked... I got the recipe and idea from Im a baker. Obviously mine didn't turn out as good as hers but its the thought that counts.

Family Night

Tonight we had the Jean family from our branch over to my parent’s house for family night. They moved into our branch 4 months ago and we love having them with us. They are originally from Haiti, moved to Florida about 15 years ago and eventually made their way to Utah. They have 10 people in their family but 3 of the kids are still in Florida. Jeremy of course being the sweetheart he is, went out of his way to meet their whole family when they moved in. After going into their home Jeremy realized what little they had. Jeremy and I got to go with our Branch President to the DI and get some essentials they didn’t have (beds, mattresses, couches, kitchen table, pots, pans, food, etc). After getting to know this family, I fell in LOVE. They are so humble and grateful for what little they do have. They have such strong testimonies and have never missed a day, let alone an hour of church. They have total faith in the Lord that their family will be taken care of. At times I focus on the next thing I want to buy and have a lists of things that I "need", I’m grateful for the happiness they show me because of the joy they have in the relationships with each other. Ultimately family is what is most important!!
